After some aggressive bidding we arrive at 4ª with West leading his partner’s suit, Hearts.

Initially you have 2 Spade   and 3 Diamond winners only. However on the losers count you have 1 possible spade loser if the spades break badly and you misguess the Spade finesse, plus 1 Heart and up to two club losers.

What clues are there? East bid twice by himself up to the two level so he will not be doing that on a shoe string so it looks like the AQ of club sits over dummy’s King. So everything boils down to how you play the trump holding. With nothing more to go on apart from East’s bold bidding you should play East for the missing Queen of trumps so after winning the second Diamond trick play the Spade Ace which does indeed reveal that East has the Queen three times and now you can finesse the Queen on the way back to your remaining KJ10 of trumps.

You will ultimately make 5 trumps, 3 Diamonds and two heart ruffs in dummy keeping your losers to just three (AQ of Clubs and the Ace of Hearts).
