Having
overcome your shock at winning the first trick, you work out that partner has
bravely underled from his known AKQ of clubs. This can mean only one thing.
Either partner is high on drugs or is trying desperately to convey a suit
preference signal at trick one. When partner does these strange things think
them through. Partner is saying I have lead my lowest possible Club and hope you
can win first trick. Once you do win first trick, PLEASE SWITCH to the lower of
two remaining suits barring trumps. Having worked out this message, play a
Diamond at trick two and derive great satisfaction when you see partner ruff as
he had an original void. Well defended partner and well defended you for being
awake to his suit preference signal.
