1NT = 15-17   and 3♠   shows maximum hand and Fit in Spades

When this hand was played against me the declarer didn't seem to have any plan at all and went two off after playing Ace and and other Spade and losing two Spade tricks before you could say Terence Reese.

After winning your first trick beating East's Queen with your Jack you take stock.

Without doing any work at all you have 1 spade winner, 1 Heart winner, 1 Diamond winners and 3 club winners after the lead around to your AJ ♣.

If the Spade honours are split or East has both the King and the Queen you will be able to establish 3 more Spade tricks You also have a possible Diamond finesse or the last Diamond could become high and even a Heart could become established - so many options.

With all this in mind win the first trick and enter dummy with the Heart Ace in order to do the first spade finesse which loses to West's King. West gets off lead with a club which you win in dummy in order to take another Spade finesse with dummy's Ten winning. Now cash the winning club watching East discard a Diamond Now cash the winning Club noticing East's discard of a Diamond. Ruff a Heart to re-enter dummy in order to do the Diamond finesse. West wins and get soo lead with the ♦4  You lose this trick but because of East's earlier Diamond discard now dummy's Diamond is established, for your tenth trick.

You eventually, after a lot of hard work, made 4 trumps,1 Heart, 1 Diamond. 1 established Diamond and 3 clubs.

(Perhaps West should have got off lead with his last Club at trick at trick 9).
