This hand came from our first round Hubert Phillips match last week and I fell asleep on the job. I need to find 5 discards and after 4, I need to be on the ball. I can come down to singleton Spade Ace and also need to protect the Club King. Therefore our only hope of breaking this contract is to assume partner has 5 Hearts. This is fine as long as partner keeps all his Hearts and I can get to his hand to defeat the contract by one. On the sixth Diamond I have to THROW the HEART EIGHT keeping a low heart so partner can take the 11th trick and cash a winning Heart. We will defeat the contract by one because declarer does indeed only have two Hearts and his Jack is falling under my King. Tragically I did not unblock the ♥8 and we could not cash the 5th defensive trick and I somewhat carelessly let the contract through. Fortunately it was a flat board as our team mates were playing in a happier 5♦ contract
