My partner Anders (A59 on okbridge) played this hand to perfection. He held up for two rounds and won the third heart please to see the Hearts breaking and being aware that all suits were therefore likely to be breaking reasonably well.
After winning the third round and knowing that East must have all the remaining possible points he successfully ran the ♥Jack followed by the ♣K won by East who then cashed the thirteenth Spade before switching to a Heart won by declarer's remaining solitary Ace.
Now declarer had to make all the remaining tricks.
If the Diamonds were breaking kindly he would be ok but he wasn't putting all his eggs in the Diamond basket and had a back up plan
He cashed two diamonds disappointed to see the Diamonds breaking 4:1 offside but that was to be expected after East had doubled the original 1♦ opener.
As the bidding suggested East needed to have all the remaining points so at trick 12 he successfully finesses dummy's Club and brought home 9 tricks from 1 Spade, 3 Hearts, 3 Diamonds and 2 clubs
(As it happens had he kept a heart and chucked a diamond the ♥Queen falls and that would have been the 9th trick instead)
