After seeing the dummy, you take stock You are going to get your two aces only and need to find two more ticks to break this contract.

Unless partner has a singleton Diamond there is no chance of beating the contract. Declarer has tried to muddy the waters by playing the¨9 at trick one to give the illusion that partner has led from a doubleton. You are not to be put off and must play a second Diamond But which one? You must play the ¨10 as a suit preference signal asking partner to play back a Spade –higher of the two remaining suits from Spades and Clubs. Partner takes his ruff and duly fires back a Spade so you can give him a second ruff to defeat the contract by one.

By the way, partner should be able to work out that a Spade is called for, even without the suit preference signal because he can see the Club Ace in dummy, so partner will need the other Ace to get in.
