Where do you start with this hand ?
The key to this hand is to establish dummy’s lovely Clubs. However you will also need entries to the dummy once the clubs are established.. If the trumps break 2:1 there will not be a problem but if the suit breaks 3:0 with West holding all three trumps you will need to engineer an extra trump entry via the Spade 5.
With this in mind after winning the first trick with the Ace, you must play the 6 or 7 of trumps over to dummy’s 9, retaining the 4 as a possible finesse position against West. When East shows out, your care in the trump suit pays dividends, and now you can ruff a club with a high trump. Now return to dummy with the Spade 5 finessing East’s 8. You now ruff one more club, pleased to see the clubs break .
You now draw the last trump and cash all the clubs from the top bringing in an easy 13 tricks by way of 7 trumps, 1 Heart and 5 clubs.
