 *3NT showed 13-15 points and precisely 4333 with Spade fit 

When this hand was recently played at one of my supervised sessions I was surprised that declarer only made 11 tricks when there were 13 for the taking with the pleasant trump layout in the opposition’s hands (2-2). After drawing trumps the students then played Hearts and threw of “losing Diamonds” However they were not losing diamonds at all. What should have happened? 

After the King of clubs lead, draw trumps and then play on the Hearts and CHUCK AWAY all the LOSING CLUBS ie create a different shortage in the other hand- you already have a shortage of Diamonds in one hand (a void) so now you must create a shortage of Clubs in the other.

Once you have chucked  away your two losing Clubs the world will be your oyster.

You will make two Spades, 5 Hearts 1 Club and the remaining cards will come from ruffing Clubs and Diamonds alternatively.(ie a cross ruff)
