On this hand my inexperienced partner defended without any thought about defeating the contract.
It is normal to lead the §3 and when partner can only play low on the Jack from dummy what must West do when he gains the lead with the ª
So what should my partner have done at trick three? As there is no future in Clubs, and he can see the top Diamonds on table, and he knows South has four Spades from his Stayman response, he has no choice but to switch to Hearts.
With the King of Heats switch, now the defenders will be able to realize 5 tricks by way of 3 Hearts (eventually) and two top spades and defeat the contract by one..
