How did Michelle Brunner  get home in her small slam against Austria in the European Championships after a  Diamond lead and a trump switch                                                            ?

After the overcall, Rhona Goldenfield had no problem in raising Michelle to  six.

After winning the second trick Michelle ruffed the  ¨Q in dummy and proceeded to isolate the spade menace. This means she would have to play Spades until only one opponent could guard this suit. With this in mind she drew trumps ,  ruffed a Spade then a Club to the ace  and ruffed     another Spade. At this point East has no more Spades and West will have to guard both Black suits. Now it was a matter of   running the  Hearts and watching West cringe on the play of the last trump. She could no longer guard both black suits and twelve   tricks duly made       and +980 to the English Ladies.
