The hand this week can be quite easy as
long as you count points, particularly the first two tricks. West decides to lead the Club 10 and
partner wins first trick and plays back the Jack. Now the hand is an Open book. East CANNOT have any more points, having
shown 5 points by trick two otherwise he would have replied to partner’s Opening
bid. After the diamond switch take the trick with dummy’s King and play Ace of
trumps. You get a nice surprise when West’s King falls singleton. Play the other top Diamond and ruff a
Diamond. Now you can resume drawing trumps. After drawing trumps concede a Spade
to West You will make 1 Spade, 6 Hearts, 2
Diamonds and 1 Diamond ruff in dummy, the short hand.
