When this hand was played against me, my lucky partner received the ♣Ace lead and had no problems in making 10 tricks losing 1 trump 1 Heart and 1 club with his second Heart loser going away on dummy's Club King.

Now let's rewind. West has doubled because she thinks she can make 4 tricks.

As a defender, one needs to work out where the tricks are coming from and how to generate extra tricks. Leading the Club Ace is a complete waste of time (you do not wish to ruff as you have high trumps any way and the bidding has told you partner has nothing and will not be able to get the lead to give you a ruff.

So what to lead?

Lead your ♥ King and you are now on the way to generating a Heart trick. Declarer wins first trick and attempts to play a second Heart. Partner plays the Ten and you beat declarer's Jack with your Queen. You are now ahead in the tempo and can, "of course", play a trump stopping declarer's plan of trumping a Heart in dummy the short hand.

Declarer tries a Club towards his King. You win, and cash your established ♥9 and you will also make your trump Queen to defeat the contract by one.

You eventually made 1 Spade, 2 Hearts and 1 club because you counted your winners and potential winners

Maybe declarer should have played a club at trick 3 and then he would prevail losing 1 club, 1 Heart and 1Diamond instead.

Maybe this will teach West a lesson in both her bidding and her defence.
