This is the sort of hand that players panic when the trump suit breaks badly.

Because there are no losers elsewhere do not be put off. After winning the first trick in hand lead the ©J ready to let it run. West no doubt will win and play another club which you win in hand again. You now play the ©9 finessing West again and finessing him one more time drawing the last trump. Now you can claim by way of five clubs, 3 Diamonds, 3 Hearts and the Ace of Spades.
