This
hand comes from Bridge Card Play Made Easy (

you will need to bring in 12 tricks. You have 11 tricks by way of 6 trumps, 2
Hearts, 2 Diamonds and 1 club. The 12th will come from establishing
dummy’s Diamonds. However to do this you will need to have two further entries
to dummy to cater for a possible 42 “bad” break in Diamonds. After
winning the first trick, delay drawing trumps and set about the Diamonds. The
third round of Diamonds you ruff with the 10 to avoid any embarrassment of being
overtrumped. Now enter dummy with the Spade king and again ruff another Diamond
high. Dummy’s remaining Diamond is now established. Draw the remaining trumps,
enter dummy with ©A
the only remaining entry and claim your contract. Had you drawn trumps
prematurely, you would not have had
that extra entry to both set up the diamonds and to get back to dummy !!
