West leads ©4 plan your play in 1NT .

Unless you persevere here with the Clubs, despite having a combined 22 points, you could turn this into the proverbial “most difficult hand to make”. So many players panic in 1NT and fail to realize the value of the long suit even if it doesn’t have all the main honours. Here you have 8 clubs between the 2 hands missing all top three honours. However since you have good control of the other three suits all you have to do is play clubs at every opportunity. After winning the first trick play a low club which they will take with the King. (You might even get lucky if they crash down the Club honours.) They presumably will persevere with another Heart and you likewise persevere with a second Club to dislodge the Queen. West gets in and switches to Diamonds and you now play one more Club. Now your 7th trick is established. You will make a well earned 7 tricks- 1 Spades, 3 Hearts, 2 Diamonds and 1 Club.
