My students keep asking me about "Do you always draw trumps?" There is no such thing in life as "Always" and there certainly is no such thing as "Always" at the bridge table.

Counting your winners here you just have six- 2 Hearts and two top Spades.

So how are you going to generate two if not more?

The clue is in the different shortage in each hand. Singleton Club in one hand and a singleton Diamond in the other and therefore you have a situation where you can make your TRUMPS SEPARATELY.

With this in mind, you will not draw any trumps at all.

Win the second trick with dummy's ♠King and immediately play a Diamond.

East wins and see what you are up to and immediately plays a trump.

However you are no in the driving seat. Now you can cash your second top Spade before they chuck their spades before you embark on you cross ruffing session.

Now you do  alternate playing between Clubs and Diamonds trumping each suit separately,  the immortal cross-ruff.

You eventually made 2 Spades, 1 top trump and 6 cross-ruffs in the two minor suits.
