plan your play.
There
are no losers in the Hearts, Diamonds and clubs so the success of the hand is
how to play the trump suit for no more than 3 losers. It would certainly be
embarrassing to play 4ª
and lose 4 trump tricks.
I
hope you are not a player who, with a distinct shortage of honours, releases
them too early.
If
the trumps break 32 you never have a problem. So how can you make any allowances
for the occasions when the suit break 41. If West has four then you will have no
chance. However, if East has 4, then you will be able to test the waters by
playing towards your trump Queen the second round providing you have not
released the Queen to the first trick. With all this in mind merely play a low
spade from either hand. West plays the Ace, his singleton.(NB If it were a
singleton rag card the situation would still be the same.)
Now go over to dummy and finesse the Queen of trumps. If
West
had been falsecarding first round of trumps it doesn’t matter since that would
mean trumps were always breaking 32.
