On our hand this week in our eagerness to make our contract we might cash the Ace spades at trick three and very quickly wish we had not done so, as East will now be able to collect two more trump tricks with his K10 sitting over dummy’s Jack.
However, if you are going to ride your luck (They led Ace of clubs), you must now consider the Spade position, and guard against a 4:1 split in trumps,
Because the 8 of trump just went you can now guard against the 4:1 division by going over to dummy and finessing the Spade six.
So you now enter dummy with the Heart Ace and play a trump from dummy and when East smoothly plays the 5 you insert the 6 and when West shows out you now make your contract losing just the one trump.
You make 4 Trumps, 3 Hearts 2 Diamonds and 2 Clubs losing just one trump with careful play
