Partner has led  your suit and after cashing a second round partner shows out  and now there is no future in continuing this suit. You look at dummy and see the Hearts looming. Partner has just told you not to play a club. So a Spade is called for and you need to put partner completely in the picture and switch to your King. Partner of course encourages and you now take 3Spades and 2 Diamonds and defeat the contract by one.

When I played this hand on OK Bridge a “competent” player decided that her Diamonds were far too attractive and continued a low Diamond at trick 2. Now declarer was able to easily wrap up 9 tricks (UGH). Perhaps she should have fallen in love with the Diamonds on her fingers instead J
