On our hand this week we must initially rebid 2© as we are not strong enough to reverse but this doesn’t put partner off who now escalates the contract to 6© (Our 5© reply showed 2 Aces and no Queen of trump).
After the favourable lead with the king popping up at trick 1 we can take stock.
If the Heart finesse works we will have no Heart losers. If the Diamond finesse wins we will have no Diamond losers and we also have options in both Spades (ruffing finesse) and in Clubs too.
Without much ado, after winning the first trick we take the trump finesse that loses.
A Spade comes back and we now draw the last trump.
Turning our attention to clubs next, when we play Jack and another club the 10 falls promoting our 9. Are we keeping in touch? – if so.we now have 2 clubs to dump our Diamond losers without resorting to the Diamond finesse even though it was working.
We made 4 trumps, 1 Spade, 1 Diamond, 2 clubs, 2 established clubs and 2 Spade ruffs
