My thinking partner remembered the bidding and worked out that the opponents only just had 25/26 points and decided not to give anything away at trick 1 and led ♣9 (top of nothing).
Declarer won on table and then tried ♦6 to his 9 and partner was able to win with the Jack.
Having given nothing away to start with he now proceeded to follow the same path and led a second Club which declarer won in dummy. Declarer then played a low diamond off the table and I took my King.
I decided to be on the same wavelength as partner and played my last club which declarer won in hand.
He now cashed his winning cards in the Minors.
Partner kept his ♥AJ8 and ♠Q10.
Declarer now tried a Heart to the King which West was able to win.
He now got off lead with the ♠Q which declarer won in the closed hand.
He now got off lead with a Spade won by me. I now played a Heart through declarer who won with the Queen but now had to concede the last trick to my partner's ♥Jack
The defence had taken 1 Spade, 2 Hearts and 2 Diamonds and had given nothing away.
(Perhaps declarer should have played for split Diamond Honours and led the Queen from his hand early on and then he might have suceeded)
