Initially you had 7 winners – 4 Clubs, 1 Diamond and 1 Heart. After the first two tricks  you now have 1 trick from Spades and provided the clubs are no worse that 4:1 you will get all five club tricks which will bring your total to 9. Playing Imps you would run for home and take no chance on a Diamond finesse for an overtrick.

However we are applying MPs where every overtrick is vital so do we risk the finesse here without jeopardising our contract? Well the answer to this question was revealed at trick 2 when East played back ♠2

2 and now you know West has led from a four card suit and Spades are breaking 4-4. Therefore it is in order to take the Diamond finesse which on this occasion fails. but you still get 9 tricks losing just 3 Spades and 1 Diamond.
