After passing North bid 4♣, a splinter bid agreeing spades as trumps and showing shortage.

After the Double, West duly led partner's suit and led the ♣King.

Declarer took stock and then played the hand to perfection.

After trumping the club lead with dummy's ♠4, declarer unblocked the hearts. followed by ruffing a Club. The ♥King was played next dumping a Diamond loser. This was now followed by a 4th heart which West trumped . Declarer, instead of overtrumping, now threw his last "losing" Diamond away. When East now played back a Diamond declarer was able to ruff. The last Club was now ruffed with dummy's ♠Queen. The ♦8 was now ruffed, followed by the last club ruffed with dummy's Ace. He now played the ♦Jack which he ruffed. West overruffed, but now had to play from his remaining ♠k10 and let declarer make the Jack at trick 13

Declarer made 3 Top Hearts, 4 Club ruffs, 2 Diamond ruffs and 1 trump in its own right at trick 13.

Declarer lost one 2 trumps (by ruffing and overruffing) and 1 natural trump at 12 twelve)

This hand was a real cross ruff with the relevant different shortage in each hand.
