This Hand is all about establishing your second suit after drawing just two rounds of trumps. Since the Hearts break well (3;3) the hand will play itself.

After taking the first trick, you draw two rounds of trumps, finishing in your hand, leaving the master Queen out. (NB you do not want to use up two trumps to their one winner- Rule of 1).

You then proceed to take the Heart finesse which succeeds. You now ruff a Heart delighted to see the 3:3 break. You now re-enter dummy with a top Diamond to dump the your third Diamond (loser) on dummy’s now established Hearts. East ruffs and the defence take their Club trick but you can now claim with dummy being high with one winning Heart and two trumps. You have won 3 trumps, 4 Hearts 2 Diamonds, 1 Heart ruffed and 1 Diamond ruffed.

You can also view  watch the following movie to see how the hand pans out. (You need bridgvu.exe programme  or BridgeBase programme on your machine already to view it ) and it is available free from   http://www.haroldschogger.com/videos.htm

 alternatively watch the film www.haroldschogger.com/movies2.htm
