Unfortunately our declarer this week was a member of the "Always Brigade" and drew trumps immediately and could then not get back to hand - I was somewhat surprised.

Now let's replay. After winning the first trick with the Ace, East plays back a low Club. No hurry to play the King now so you trump in dummy and speedily unblock the singleton Diamond in dummy.

Only now can you draw two rounds of trumps ending in your own hand (noting that West still has the last trump when East doesn't follow suit) so now you can dump the losing Hearts in dummy, on your top Diamonds or a top Diamond and a club

You can now trump a Diamond (or a club) to get to dummy in order to draw West's last trump. You can now claim the rest

You made 6 trumps, 2 Hearts, 3 Diamonds and 1 Club ruffed.
