At trick one you now know that partner has four, you have four and dummy has four and that declarer started with just one Heart. Therefore you have to get partner in to lead another Heart through to finesse against poor dummy’s Heart King.

What is the best way to get partner in? South’s main suits are the Black suits and after a 4th suit forcing sequence declarer bid No Trump. You have to hope that declarer’s Diamonds are at most QJ and hope partner has the missing Ace. (NB If partner has something good in either of the Black suits the contract is probably going off regardless)

With this in mind you switch to a Diamond at trick 2 and partner gratefully takes his Ace and strangles poor declarer by playing back the ©Queen. The defence takes the first five tricks to defeat this contract (just).
