When you play Match Point pairs every overtrick can give the opponents a good score and holding the contract can even give you a good score.

So many players play Passively when they should be waking up and switching.

On this hand you can see so many good Diamonds in dummy in plain sight J) and if you merely lazily play another club declarer will wrap up 11 tricks by way of 4 trumps, 5 Diamonds and 2 clubs.

However if after winning the third trick East Plays the Spade Ace he will get a strong encouragement and now the defence will take their 3 tricks- two top spades and a Heart for a well above average score
