When I originally played this hand on okbridge  I was angry for going down because I put all my eggs in one basket and relied on the Clubs splitting and I eventually lost a trick in each suit.

After going through it afterwards I realised all I had to do was keep the Spade suit open as an option too and not just rely on the Clubs.

After winning the second trick you need to draw trumps and then to play the Spade Queen which is won by East. East will play a Diamond which forces you to use up your last trump.

On the run of trumps West has been squeezed in the Black suits and cannot hold both a protected Spade Jack and 4 clubs.

Eventually you will make 5 trumps 1 established Spade and either 3 clubs and another spade or 4 clubs
