You decide to pull partner's Double, now you have to make 8 tricks- perhaps you should have left the Double in and led a Heart and taken your chances of defeating their 1NT but that's another day.
The opponent West leads the Queen of clubs marking him with QJ and 3 points. All he can have at the most is 2 points left otherwise east would not have been able to say 1NT in the first place.. The hand is virtually an Open book with East holding all the missing Key cards so taking a finesse in Diamonds is unlikely to work. Is there a better way ?
Yes there is - we need to do a DUMMY REVERSAL whereby the hand with more trumps becomes the hand with less trumps. We will endeavour to ruff the Spade suit four times and count our eventual tricks as 1 Spades, 3 Spade ruffs, i Diamond 2 Clubs and another trump trick at the end when poor East will be endplayed.
