This hand comes from the EBU Summer Congress 2010. When you see dummy your first task is to try and cut communications between declarer’s hand and dummy. “Obviously” declarer will try to set up dummy’s Clubs but if he only has one club in his hand then he is going to need another entry back to the established Diamonds. The entry here is the Heart Ace.

After winning the first trick with your Ace you should not woodenly fire back your  suit. You must immediately attack the entry on table, and play a Heart. Once you do this, a) you have begun to set up partner’s Hearts b)  more importantly, declarer never gets to enjoy the long Club in dummy (partner does indeed turn up with three clubs headed by the King).
