This hand is very easy especially if you conceal your assets.

After winning the lead with dummy’s Jack it looks like West has led from K109XX.

The clubs can make any time and will also be needed for entries. First you need to establish Spade tricks. Without much ado you play QJ of Spades and West takes the second round. Thinking that you are trying to establish your Spades West gets off lead with a club. Maybe he thinks his partner has good clubs sitting over dummy. It also appears he doesn’t want to lead away from his Hearts and give you a third Heart trick and he is also uncomfortable leading Diamonds.

Since you are still in control of all suits and nothing can harm you, you decided to now try the Diamond finesse and lead your Jack. West covers and this now guarantees a Diamond trick.

You will now make 5 Clubs, 1 Diamond 2 Hearts and 2 Spades for a nice comfortable contract.
