When this hand was played against me on OK Bridge our “unlucky” declarer was a member of the “always” brigade and immediately drew trumps and later on in the hand finessed the Diamond Jack and subsequently lost two diamond tricks.
Now let us rewind.
Initially you have 7 top spades, 1 top Heart and three clubs. You need to generate one more and the safest way without a doubt is to ruff a club in dummy the short hand before drawing trumps.
After winning first trick play queen and and other top club ruffing the thid round with dummy’s Ace, Now cash the Heart Ace dumping a losing Diamond.
Ruff a heart to get back to hand with the ª10 (safety of trumping high cannot be underestimated with such good trumps. Draw the remaining tow trumps and merely concede on Diamond.
You made 7 trumps, 1 Heart 3 clubs and 1 club ruffed in dummy.
