Normally with KQ954 one would lead the 4^th one down but the expert, who defended this hand against me, decided to think a little longer before making his lead.

He had 12 points and saw that the opposition had strolled into 3NT suggesting an easy 25 points and he deduced that partner has at most 4 points and that partner was not going to be taking much part in the defence of the hand. He therefore decided with 2 outside entries to make a positive lead and decided to lead the Heart King.

With the doubleton Heart Jack in dummy and partner holding the Heart Ten now the contract had no chance and duly went one off

Most of the rest of the field led a wooden ©5 and the contract then made.
