Counting your winners here is a sorry affair. None in spades yet and 3 winners from the red suits.

However, there is lots of potential from eventually getting 6 trump tricks and more from the Diamond suit.

On the losers front there are two potential Heart losers, 1 definite club trick and 1 definite Club trick.

If we can keep West off lead then you might be able to dump a Heart loser on third round of Diamonds.

With all this in mind go up with the  Heart Ace at trick one.

At the moment we cannot get back to hand to start trump drawing. Therefore we will have to play a little bit on psychology and play Queen and hopefully East will cover and you will let East win the trick. East wins but cannot profitably play a Heart from his seat so gets off lead with a second club which you are now able to ruff.

You draw trumps and now have to play Diamonds. In view of the takeout double by East it now looks like Diamonds are breaking 3:1 with East, the original Doubler holding only one. You now finesse the jack of Diamonds and with all the diamonds gone you now make an overtrick making eventually 6 trumps, 1 Heart and 4 Diamonds losing just one club and one trump

NB Had West been more wide awake at trick two he could have overtaken the club and put another Heart through but you would now have to guess the remaining Heart suit position and play West for the Heart 10 and let the switch come around to your 9.

You can also play out the following hand  to see how the hand pans out. (You need bridgvu.exe programme  and it is available free from   http://www.haroldschogger.com/movies.html )
