Once partner has led the ♦7 at trick one it very much looks like top of a doubleton with no Diamond honour as the ♦4 has not appeared at trick one adn also partner has discarded the 6 so it very much looks likepartner started with rubbishy ♦76 in your suit.

So when my partner got in with the ♣J at trick 4 he kindly found the ♠9 switch and now declarer was unable to make 9 tricks as he could not get back to hand and when West got in with the with the Heart Ace at trick 9 the defence were able to take the last 4 tricks with 2 Spades, 1 Heart 1 Diamond and together with the club tricks earlier, and defeat the contract by one. If my partner had lazily played back a Diamond which a lot of people would do it would give declarer her 9th trick and declarer would have got home.

(NB Perhaps declarer might still have got home had the Spade switch been held up)
