Our hand this week is a little bizarre to say the least. Once partner opens 2♥ with a outside four card Major (which he should not do) wouldn't you, as North. now take your chances and try 6♥. Now when it comes around to West you don't really blame him for doubling do you? On the other had if the contract is going down there is no need for West to Double as he will be getting a good board anyway.

West leads ♠A and you take stock. As long as trumps are no worse than 3:1 you will eventually get 6 trump tricks plus a spade ruff in the short hand and 1 top club. If the Club King is with West (the Doubler) you will in fact make an overtrick. So after ruffing the first trick cash the ♥K and be pleased to see everybody follow.

Now come back to hand to take the club finesse. It is not a good idea to draw another trump at the moment lest the Club finesse fails and East will then be able to cash a spade or two.                                                       

 (NB When this hand was played against me declarer did not do this but drew trumps and then put all his eggs in the Club finessing basket- he got lucky and as far as I know went out and immediately bought a lottery ticket after playing this hand)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Having got back to hand now finesse the clubs. The finesse works and now you can come back to hand drawing the remaining trumps before playing more clubs.

Eventually you make 1 Spade ruffed, 5 trumps 1 Diamond ruffed and 6 clubs, In fact you can claim 14 tricks as you also still have the Diamond Ace.
