The auction has shown
that the opponents have ended in 3NT with about 25/26 points ands partner has no
more than 2/3 . Therefore partner has very little to contribute to the defence
so getting your suits going will take some time. Therefore you need to lead your
Spade Ace and see what is going on. Once you lead your Ace, your partner comes
to life and encourages with the 8. Now you manage to take the first five tricks
before declarer gets a look in. With any other lead
(such as 4th highest) declarer easily wraps up 9 tricks You can also view
