Initially we have 4 spade tricks (now the Ace has gone) 3 Diamond tricks and 2 club tricks so we need to find just one more. On the surface it is a guess for the two way finesse – “who has the Club Queen?” but if we use the bidding and the play so far it no longer becomes a guess because everything has been revealed after three tricks. East has turned up with Ace, Ace and a King and PASSED when he could have made an opening bid so he CANNOT HAVE the Club Queen.
With this in mind after drawing trumps merely finesse West for the missing Club Queen and bring hone 10 tricks.
When this hand was played against me by a so called expert on Ok Bridge he finessed East for the missing Club Queen and went one off. I am glad I was playing against him rather than with him JJ
