If you are an "Always Trump drawer" you will be lucky to make 7 maybe 8 tricks here. However if you endeavour to ruff either Clubs twice or Spades twice you will generate 9 or even 10 tricks.

With this in mind. Win the second trick and immediately ruff a club. Now draw two rounds of trumps ONLY please to see them breaking 3:2. Now play a Diamond to your hand so that you can ruff your last Club with West failing to follow suit or trump. Now you need to get back to hand but have no entry. So play a Spade which West wins with the 10 and gets off lead with a second Diamond which you have to win on the table. Now play a second spade which West wins and again gets off lead with a Diamond again which you win in dummy with West following suit still. Both East and West follow suit to the spade which you ruff and then draw East's last trump with your master King.

You made 3 trumps, 3 Diamonds, 1 Club 2 Clubs ruffed in dummy and 1 Spade ruffed in hand for a very well played hand.

(NB Were you lucky with the split of all the suits or was it to be expected? Since you and dummy are balanced the opponents are likely to be balanced to so you merely took advantage of the situation. Perhaps East should have won a spade and played a trump depriving you of a second ruff but you never let him in J)

You can also play out the following hand  to see how the hand pans out. (You need bridgvu.exe programme  and it is available free from   http://www.haroldschogger.com/movies.html )
