As
West what do you lead ?
When
this hand was played against me West led the ©6,
his 4th highest and declarer had the timing to set up a
Spade trick to bring home 9 tricks.
If
your partner bid Leading partner’s suit overrides 4th highest and
West must lead a Club. In fact not only did East bid 1§
he reaffirmed his interest in the suit by doubling North’s Stayman enquiry.
Not
only must he lead a club, he must lead the club 4 so that partner knows he has
an honour. Now declarer is a trick short and can no longer turn 8 tricks into 9.
The defence will prevail and they will muster 4 Clubs and the Spade Ace.
