Initially this hand looked comparatively easy after East won the first trick. But then disaster struck when your ♣King got ruffed by West . Now, having already lost the first two tricks you are looking at a possible Diamond and another club loser .

What to do? Well when you have losers you need to find a place to dump them. It seems that West must have the King and Queen of of Diamonds as well as the QJ of Spades for his overcall. If East has the ♦9 then there is a chance of West being endplayed after you eliminate Spades and trumps from both hands before letting West in.

With this in mind when West gets off lead at trick 3 with a Spade you win in hand and now play a small Heart to dummy's Queen pleased to see the remaining trumps breaking nicely 1:1. Now cash Spade Ace before entering dummy with a trump, in order to ruff your last Spade. You have now completed your elimination of the Spade suit and will need to play a Diamond up to your 8 in hand. So firstly return to dummy to be in the correct hand to perform the finesse. Now you are in dummy so play a low diamond towards your hand and try the 8. West duly wins, BUT with the Queen and now only has Diamonds and Spades left and whichever suit he now plays will give you your 10th trick - either he will gave away a ruff and discard if he plays spades and you can chuck a club loser from either hand while trumping in the other or he will have to play around to your remaining ♦AJ and then you can chuck the losing club from dummy on the 2nd Diamond winner.
