Playing Matching points every overtrick is vital. If you keep the
initiative for as long as possible then 11 tricks should be your target. After
the lead EW are on the way to establishing a Diamond for their side. You should
win the first trick in hand and draw 2 rounds of trumps. (NB When there is one
trump out and it is a master then there is not point in drawing it). If you play
another trump West will win and play another diamond before you have dislodged
the Club Ace.
Now play the Club Jack to force out East’s Ace and although he will
persist with a second Diamond you now have the tempo to chuck your Diamond loser
on dummy’s third club winner.
By the end of the hand you will have amassed 4 trumps, 3
Hearts, 2 Diamonds and 2 clubs losing just 2 Minor suit aces.
