On our hand this week we need to maximize our tricks in order to get a good match point score. An initial count of winners gives us 2 Clubs. 1 Diamond, 4 Trumps and 3 top spades bringing the total to 10 tricks without doing any work at all. So our contract is never in jeopardy. If the trumps break no worse than 4-1 then we will now get an extra trump trick. If the Spade suit breaks 3-3 we will get all thirteen tricks with the long spade suit giving us two discards’ but if the Spade suit breaks 4-2 (more likely) we will still get one extra trick bringing the total to 12 tricks. If we draw trumps we also need to leave an entry in dummy to get back to the Spade.

With all this in mind we MUST win first trick in hand leaving that Club Ace as our entry to dummy. We now cash three top Hearts finding them to be breaking 3-2. We now turn our attention to Spades and when they break4-2 we will establish the 13^th Spade in dummy and have access to dummy with that carefully

We make 3 Spades, 1 established Spade, 5 trumps 1 Diamond and 2 clubs.

(Perhaps our partner underbid his hand when rebidding 3© and then maybe we would get to this very worthwhile percentage slam in Hearts.- Perhaps North should bid 4^th suit and  then 4© next)
