2♦ is Michaels cue bid promising 5:5 or better in the Majors after the 1♦ opener by West
As with many hands this should be a tale of two halves. One half should be to draw trumps and the other half to establish a second suit. Normally you would draw trumps and then work on the second suit.
However, on this hand in order to establish dummy's Spade suit you will need to trump at least one spade in the dummy.
Therefore without much ado, you should play a spade up to dummy's KQ holding at trick 2 after winning the first trick.
West wins and of course switches to a trump. You should in in hand with the Ace- you need to keep a low one for ruffing a Spade shortly. You now ruff a club to get to dummy in order to ruff a Spade (NB the KQ will not go away).
You are delighted to see that the Spade suit is no worse than 4:2 when West follows to the second round of Spades. Now trump a club to get to dummy and draw the reamining trumps and enjoy all those lovely Spades that have been established in dummy.
You made 4 Trumps (in dummy) 3 Spades, 2 established Spades, 2 Clubs ruffed in dummy (the long hand) and 1 Diamond for an excellent Match Point score.
(NB All you needed were that the trumps break 3:2 (68%) and spades to be no worse then 4:2 (48%)
