When playing out this hand do not be daunted by poor trumps.
Firstly congratulate your partner on supporting your Hearts rather than insisting on his long Spade suit. (You after all did promises five)
Counting winners its just 5 form the Minor suits with a lot of work to be done.
However on the losers front you see to have 1 Spades nd hopefully just tow Hearts.
Firstly you need to play a High Spade to set up your Spade trick. East takes his Ace and fires back a Club. The opposition have unblocked your clubs for you. Now before drawing trumps play three rounds of trumps ruffing the third round.
Dump a club on the Spade while in the dummy and now take the trump finesse which brings out West’s Ace. This is the second trick you have lost.
West plays another club and it is East who gets a ruff. This is the third trick for the defence. East plays a spade and you must ruff with ©8 just in case West has no more Spades. This is the case and West is unable to over-ruff you. You now draw the last trumps and claim the rest.
You make 1 Spades, 4 trumps, 2 Diamonds 1 Diamond ruff and 2 clubs losing just 1 top trump 1 ruff and 1 Spade.
