The main danger of this hand is letting East in who may then put a club through and you could lose up to 4 tricks- Heart Ace, 2 Clubs and a losing Spade finesse.

However with the 2 level overcall East is unlikely to have the Heart Ace so at trick two you need to dislodge the Heart Ace (and do not attempt to play three rounds of Diamonds). West takes his Ace of trumps and plays a second Diamond . Now you can draw trumps and play a third round of Diamonds chucking a Club from dummy. This means the threat of two club losers goes away and you can now take the Spade finesse. Although it loses the defence can take just one more club.

You have made 4 trumps, 3 Diamonds 2 Spades and 1 Club ruffed in dummy, losing just 2 Aces and a Spade.

You can also view  watch the following movie to see how the hand pans out. (You need bridgvu.exe programme  or BridgeBase programme on your machine already to view it ) and it is available free from   http://www.haroldschogger.com/videos.htm

 alternatively watch the film www.haroldschogger.com/movies2.htm
