On the third round you must avoid the issue of being overtrumped by East who presumably has no more trumps either, so you must ruff the third round with the ♥ 9.

From now on you have an easy run as you count your winners - you have 5 trumps from the long hand, 2 top Diamonds and 2 top clubs. So with out much ado you now draw trumps, followed by 2 top Clubs followed by the Diamonds finishing in your hand at trick 12 in the closed hand and maybe the opponents might throw too many Diamonds away. However this East has played before and keeps his Diamonds and East takes trick 13. You lost two top Spades at the start of play and 1 Diamond at the end of play
