On this hand West leads the suit bid by both East and West and it could be tempting to let the first trick run around to your Queen but
a) East might have the King
b) you create a loser where you didn’t have one
c) you do not want the opposition switching to Spades.
So at trick one you take the Ace immediately and draw trumps. pleased to see the trumps breaking 22.
Now to the Diamonds. If you want to get the best from the Diamond suit
a) you will have to assume the finesse is working
b) the suit breaks 3:2 and
c) you do not cut yourself off from dummy.
With this in mind you play a low Diamond from hand and completely duck it or finesse the first round and then completely duck it. Now you will not cut yourself off from dummy and will be eventually be able to chuck your Spade loser on the fourth round of Diamonds.
You will make 1 Spade, 6 Hearts, 4 Diamonds and 1 Club for a very good Match Point score..
