When this play came up at advanced supervised play all the declarers managed to go down instead of making 11 tricks.
The secret of the hand is to establish the Clubs before drawing trumps. Because your trumps are so good you can trump high to avoid the embarrassment of being overtrumped,
After chucking a Heart loser away on the first trick you immediately set about the club suit and play off Ace King and trump a club high as West’s Queen places him with just two and even if he is bluffing your trumps are so good you can afford to trump high.
You now proceed to dummy with a trump to ruff another club to make all dummy’s clubs high.
You cash the Diamond Ace, while you are in hand as it’s the last time you will be in your hand,
You enter the dummy with a high trump overtaking your Jack with dummy’s Queen, disappointed to see the trumps breaking badly. but this is no longer a problem as long as you draw just one more trump leaving the master trump out. You can now cash winning clubs and the East can have his trump whenever he likes plus his Heart Ace.
You have amassed 11 tricks from 3 trumps in dummy, 2 top clubs, 2 established clubs 2 Clubs ruffed high in your hand and 2 top Diamonds losing just 1 club and 1 Heart.
