After winning the first trick play off a second Diamond chucking away a club from hand. Now play a Heart off the table pleased to see East playing the Ace. East now plays another Diamond and you are now at the crossroads. Having lost just one trick (Heart Ace) you can only afford one more loser. Fortunately East now plays another Diamond (rather than a club) which you can ruff.

Play the winning Heart chucking dummy's last Diamond.

Now play the Queen of trump, disappointed to see West failing to follow suit. Oh dear can you still possibly make the contract?

If the bridge gods are with you, you might still be OK. You have lost the Heart Ace and now the trump King for sure. Somehow you must not have a club loser. Maybe West might have started with a singleton Club. If so, you can now endplay him with a trump.

With all this in mind, cash the Club Ace delighted, to see East play the Queen (Now we know why East didn't play a club earlier ) We now play a trump and hold our breath. East wins, and with only Hearts left, has to play a Heart and now you throw your last club from hand and ruff on the table and bring home this very precarious contract after losing just one trump and the Ace of Hearts.
